You've probably heard of Karma — the spiritual law of cause and effect, often summed up as "what goes around comes around." But there's much more to Karma than just that catchy phrase. It's deeply connected to the idea of reincarnation, where a soul journeys through many lifetimes, continually learning and evolving.

A pink water lily with vibrant orange center floats on dark green lily pads, creating a serene contrast in the dim light. It implies the awareness that comes with the understanding karma's true purpose

What Does it Mean to Be "God-Like"?

The ultimate aim of this spiritual journey is to become more "God-like." This doesn't mean becoming an all-powerful deity, but rather aligning with universal spiritual laws. At its core, it means becoming a pure expression of unconditional love in every moment. A soul that has been purified is better equipped to serve the universal spiritual purpose of co-working and co-creating with the Divine. Ultimately, both reincarnation and Karma are about learning to love, even when the lessons are challenging and not always "soft and sweet."

Karma and Reincarnation: A Dynamic Duo

These two spiritual laws, Karma and reincarnation, work hand-in-hand. They're not man-made rules or physical laws that can be measured scientifically. While "as you sow, so shall you reap" perfectly describes Karma, its full meaning goes much deeper.

Karma Isn't Punishment

Many people mistakenly believe Karma is about judgment or punishment. However, it's actually impersonal and precise, much like the physical law of gravity. We all arrive in this life with karmic baggage. Some of it is pleasant and comforting, while other parts are incredibly challenging and even painful. Interestingly, these tough karmic patterns often lead to desirable outcomes in the long run, as life's difficulties tend to cleanse and strengthen us spiritually.

Your Karmic Bank Accounts

Think of your karmic accounts like two separate bank accounts:

Karmic Saving Account: This holds the positive Karma you've accumulated from good deeds in this and past lives. The universe draws from this account to bring desirable experiences and opportunities into your life.

Karmic Loan Account: This represents debts from past and present lives. These debts are repaid by experiencing challenges, hardships, and sometimes pain in your life and relationships.

Just like financial debts, you need to actively work to pay off your karmic loans. The goal is to bring your karmic loan account to zero and avoid creating new karmic debt through negative or selfish thoughts and actions. The path to karmic freedom — the Tao of the soul, or the way of intercepting karma — is to strive to do no harm in all your thoughts and actions.
